As podcasters, we have a platform and duty to speak up and call out injustice. In light of the murder of George Floyd, we have come together in solidarity to use our platform to speak up against racial injustice and amplify the voices of black podcasters that deserve more recognition. Racism is prevalent in all industries; from the media who under-report on black victims to the justice system which routinely fails black victims. In this collaborative episode, we document black history and current events with the voices of those who have lived through it.

The most recent release from author Don Stradley is a jab of boxing with an uppercut of true crime. Slaughter in the Streets has just enough of each to keep you wanting to come back for the next round. It covers a range of criminals from those that committed crimes out of necessity to hardened criminals that just wouldn’t die. With each chapter covering a new criminal/boxer that you haven’t heard of yet it is hard to put this book down.
It is getting close to Valentine’s Day and love is in the air. Well it is for some but sadly not for the poor victims of these crimes.

Everyone knows that Boxing has a dark side but have you heard the story of Edwin Valero? Probably not as he is not a well known athlete outside of the boxing realm and its not a well known case of true crime either. Don Stradley takes you on a fast paced journey of the battle to be a recognized boxer from Venezuela to his fall from grace. its a story of intrigue and murder that will keep you wanting to flip the pages. I am not a big boxing fan and I can count the amount of times I have watched a boxing match on a hand or two but this book was riveting for me.
